Starting a blog has been one of the wisest decision I have ever done. If I am not blogging today I guess I won’t have a better disposition in life. I learned to become a better writer, I realized that there’s more to learn in general and I understood that I am more than just an  ordinary person in the planet.

Since blogging changed me on a personal level, I try to recommend this hobby to others. I dedicate time to people who want to learn the art of blogging.  But not everyone can see the benefits that blogging can give. Some think that it is too time consuming to blog. Starting a blog and polishing the design will take time and sometimes days. Creating your first post is a process of research, prewriting and actual writing. You also need to generate your image and promote this said post on social media.

But I am telling you that it is all worth it.

It was the summer of 2011 when I successfully created my first blog. It was a beauty review blog inspired by my then obsession with skincare and makeup. Back then, all I am after is the “fun in writing”. I didn’t mind the blog, I didn’t mind how my sentences were constructed and I didn’t mind whether there are true people reading my posts. 

Now I have over 500 accumulated published  posts from the multiple blogs that I had created and I didn’t even notice the time that passed by. Blogging has a lot of potential. It can remain as a hobby for some but I assure you that it can lead to a potential career and other bigger and more rewarding opportunities in the future.

Remember the wise saying that “practice makes perfect”? A blog can be a tool to develop your writing skills even if writing's not your passion.  Writing is a skill that everyone has to master. Whatever job you’ll want to be at the moment, there will be documents that is needed whether it is your resume, your essay test, your client presentation or your project proposal. Becoming a better writer through a blog will not happen overnight but you’ll notice the big difference in  your outputs. You write faster than you used to do and you can come up with creative ideas in a short period of time.

As I explained before, blogging is not just about writing. Once you start a blog now you will practice your research skills finding a new topic to write.  You will also adopt to tools such as Photoshop or Lightroom for your blog images that you can always use in your resume. You develop your administrative skills in managing your blog like responding to emails, generating analytical reports and more.

Have you ever had a hobby that you became too passionate about it soon became a reason why you wake up happily in the morning? Blogging does that exactly for me. It became a hobby that I look forward to. Blogging requires time, commitment, devotion and discipline. Since I started a blog I learned to become an early riser, I develop the interest to become physically fit, I begin to love reading fiction and nonfiction books and I became obsessed in project management.  Along your journey as a blogger you’ll surely develop a lifestyle that is enough reason why you need to start a blog now.

There is much that needs to get done in order to achieve a successful blog. The concepts, processes and terms involved in blogging can make you think deeper in life. You will have the constant need to acquire new knowledge and learning as you focus on a particular niche. I started a blog on personal finance and each it made me think better in how I currently manage my money.

In the present generation, what you say on the web matters A LOT. For example, you visit Restaurant A and have negative comment and decided to post a review via blog. The attention that your review will be getting can affect how others will view Restaurant A. Your blog is a powerful tool and you are a powerful person! There are instances that an establishment will give you special treatment once they’ve known that you are a blogger.

I value strengthening my network because I believe that they can will be of significance in the future. They can be the first few people who will be willing to listen for a future product/service that I will be launching. They can be the very people who will help me in achieving my current and future life goals.

A blog can be accessed on the web meaning whatever you publish can be seen and retrieved online. Your content can actually inspire others to take action. They can either buy the product you’ve raved or visit the restaurant you’ve featured. I will receive constant email from people I don’t know and I haven’t met before about how they are encouraged to take a step in the quest for financial freedom. I know some who have already opened their mutual fund, invested in stock and even budget and save on a daily basis. Imagine that meaning you can give to others by simply starting a blog. 

Reason #9. You’ll Gain Confidence and a Sense of Pride

A blog can boost your confidence level 100% especially once you start gaining online presence. You will not be dependent on your current job or current status when you talk to others. You can confidently say that you own a blog and your write for a particular niche. This is also a good conversation starter as per my personal experience. If you became known as the man or the lady behind a successful blog, won’t that be a great source of self-importance?

As someone whose language of love is recognition, blogging made me an expert in the field/s that I write. My beauty and lifestyle blog led me to be known as an expert when it comes to beauty product for frugal Pinays. My personal finance blog has been a platform for those Pinays who want to learn more about money management. You’ll be surprised receiving emails from others asking for your expert advice. You will also practice consciousness when it comes to the information that you want your readers to perceive.

Though it will take time to really earn through a blog, the earning potential is still need to be included in the top reasons why you need to start a blog now. There are many ways that you can earn through a blog. You can place affiliate link in your sidebar or in your web content. You can also make your sidebar available for ad placement. Another money-generating opportunity is providing product or service review for a certain brand. Because of these, known bloggers can depend on their blog earnings alone. They even promote their own business through a blog generating more income. 

Reason #12. A Good Way to Use Your Spare Time

You can maximize your free time through a blog. You can spend an hour or two of just browsing the net or your social media to a more worthy endeavor. I attended a financial seminar before and it was advised that if you success in the future, your spare time should be spent making money silently. I continuously blog in the hope that soon my blogs will provide me passive income.
